Uziah Galil, considered the father of Israeli hi-tech, said at the Technion that "Education and the level of teaching in high schools is one of the main problems of the State of Israel. We should strive for our children to want to be the teachers of the generation after them. For that, a tremendous effort is required." He thereby opened the first meeting of the "Innovation Managers Forum", chaired by Professor Miriam Erez, director of the Innovation Knowledge Center that was established last year at the Technion.

Uziah Galil added that despite his identification with the high-tech industry, he wants to promote innovation in the classic, traditional industry here. "You can say about me - what do you even know about this industry? That's true, but sometimes, an outside view can help." According to him, promoting innovation in the classical industry is a complex challenge. "The Israeli plastics industry, for example, is a model of innovation and creative planning," he added.

Dr. John Kao, one of the leading figures in the study of innovation and the author of the book Innovation Nation, said in his lecture that innovation means an aspiration, backed by capabilities, to shape a definite desired future. "Innovation requires a clear goal, a defined vision of the desired future," said Dr. Kao. "Innovation breaks out when there is some sense of panic, like the one that arose in the US with the launch of the Russian 'Sputnik' in 1957. We must expand the meaning of the term 'innovation' as well as the meaning of the term 'wealth' - wealth is not only tangible things like money and barrels of oil but also abilities, intellect, leadership and more. We see how these terms are implemented very differently in different countries. The State of Israel must decide how it defines its desired future, and according to this definition direct processes of innovation at the national level."

The next meeting of the innovation forum will be held in April. More details are given Find on the forum site

  1. The method of average education that allows "everyone" to finish school leads to the cancellation of education for excellence and savings of accelerated tracks for those with high academic ability. The method of self-study does not push to strive for achievements and will further deteriorate the entire system as a whole. The basis needs to change from the attitude that those who do not have proper achievements apply to study teaching. And thus the whole system deteriorates. Non-native English teachers and science teachers did not know nor did they get to practice solving equations and integrals. I never understood why they didn't put the Hebrew encyclopedia online. Maybe someone will look for values about the greats of previous generations. Just this year I threw away two copies of XNUMX volumes because no one is interested in Nir Chromo.

Also in my opinion most of the teaching can be done in this way and it is even better if it is done this way.
For a person who wants to learn, this also gives the possibility to progress much faster than usual or, in general, to adjust the pace of study to the rate of absorption and learning of interest.
However, we need to find a way to make all the children want to learn and in my opinion this should be the main role of the teacher even today because if you really want to learn then - YouTube or not - the knowledge is already available even today.

  3. You don't need teachers at all, you need one teacher who uploads his lesson to YouTube, and those who have additional questions contact the practitioner online in a video chat with an electronic writing board that allows easy and fast writing of mathematics. It costs a dime today.
