Dolphins and whales have developed for themselves a technique for highly effective long-range underwater communication, based on chirping and singing in a wide range of variable frequencies. By changing the chirping frequencies, they transmit information to each other, and mask the unnecessary echo and background noises emanating from the expanses of the sea.

The EVOLOGICS company from Germany, which develops innovative technologies inspired by natural phenomena for the marine and aviation fields, studied for eight years the communication mechanism of dolphins. As a result of this long research, EVOLOGICS developed an underwater acoustic transmission technology called SWEEP SPREAD CARRIER (S2C), which imitates the mechanism of the dolphins' sound transmission.

Acoustic underwater modems (devices) manufactured by EVOLOGICS based on S2C technology, continuously distribute the energy of the transmitted signal over a wide frequency range, preventing interference and background noise. A receiver that receives the energy signals transforms them into a narrow and clear transmission band, free of interference, which enables successful decoding of the transmission even in turbulent environmental conditions.

The EVOLOGICS underwater devices are suitable for applications at shallow to medium depths, at ranges of up to 1 km (high transmission speed of 28kpbs), and for applications at high depths at a distance of up to about 8 km (low transmission speed of 6.5kpbs). The main uses of these devices are in the field of oil and gas exploration, in ocean research, in the collection and transmission of seismic information such as earthquakes and tsunamis, and in the concentration of underwater data and its transfer to information centers.

  1. Beautiful. Now they will be able to definitively and completely mask the singing of the whales and prevent the transmission of information between whales (among themselves) and between dolphins (among themselves).
