The Israeli Raicol Crystals, which produces unique non-linear crystals for use in the space, aviation and pharmaceutical industries, will cooperate with Qubitekk from California, which produces quantum key exchange (QKD) systems based on quantum entanglement, in a joint venture in the field of quantum communication. As part of the joint project, the companies will develop an interlaced and miniaturized photonic source which will be an end point for sending encrypted messages.

The world of computing is undergoing a revolution with the introduction of quantum computing and countries and organizations around the world are in a race for supremacy in the field of quantum computing and communication. The quantum communication based on quantum interweaving will allow a lot of information to move in a fast, high-quality, secure manner and without the influence of distance or environmental conditions. The Israeli-American collaboration between the companies will combine the photon splitting capabilities of Raicol Crystals and Qubitekk's quantum key exchange systems with the aim of developing a sophisticated end point for the transmission of split photons. This development will allow extremely fast transfer of encrypted data and may be used in a variety of fields including: financial, security, medicine and government systems. In the long term, the goal of the project is to significantly reduce the size of the photonic source while increasing and refining its capabilities into an innovative and first-of-its-kind product.

The market potential of the project is estimated at tens of millions of dollars per year.

For the development of the solution, the companies received the Bird Foundation grant. The Bird Foundation, the Israel-USA Binational Industrial Research and Development Fund, works to encourage collaborations between Israeli and American companies from the various fields of technology for the purpose of joint product development. The joint developments focus on providing solutions to the existing and future technological challenges of the two countries.

Dr. Eitan Yudilevich, CEO of the Bird Foundation, said: "Quantum computing is a strategic tool which in the future may be essential for organizations and governments. We are proud to take part in the development of technology that has the ability to position the Israeli and American industry as leaders in the field with the development of a first-of-its-kind product. The Bird Foundation will continue to support innovative projects that develop solutions to the challenges of the present and the future."

Aner Jordan, CEO Company Raicol Crystals, He said: "We are proud to win funding from the Bird Fund to develop a project with the respected Qubitekk company, which has registered several patents in the field of quantum space and is a pioneer in the field of quantum communication. The Raicol company produces a unique crystal that serves as a critical component in quantum communication systems and we will continue to look for collaborations in the field of quantum communication with leading space stations and research institutions so that our knowledge and experience in the quantum field will lead the company to success."
