Meet the Lemur LEMUR IIa, a robot designed to independently inspect equipment in orbit around the Earth, such as the Orion crew vehicle planned to replace and maintain the shuttle. The Halmor IIa, seen in the image on the space telescope model, was designed to be used in Hal as the Swiss army knife. Each of the robot's boots has four degrees of range of motion and a quick-connect joint, which allows astronauts to attach different tools to it as needed.

Two stereoscopic cameras mounted on a circular rail allow the robot to see 360 ​​degrees around it.

Robots like the Lemur IIb, a close relative of the rock-climbing Lemur LBA, and their cousin the tall weightlifter and journeyman Athlete, are part of a series of robots that will help NASA revisit the Moon and explore Mars.

Vehicles based on the athlete robot will be able to carry equipment on the moon. The offspring of a Lemur IIa robot, will be able to climb the Martian cliffs in Ruby collecting soil samples.
