Senior officials in the field of space exploration, space medicine and astronautics will come to the space conference that will be held on Wednesday and Thursday in Herzliya

The annual space conference held for the fourth year at the end of January, the anniversary of the Columbia disaster in which Col. Ilan Ramon was killed, is underway. The conference will be held on Wednesday and Thursday this week with the participation of senior officials and will also deal with the field of education

The annual space conference will take place this year on January 28 and 29 at the Fisher Institute at the Air Force Base in Herzliya. This year, many distinguished scientists and guests from Israel and the world will come to the conference, among them:

  • Pete Worden, head of the NASA Space Center
  • Antonio Taiani, Vice President of the European Union
  • Dr. Michael Simpson, President of the International Space University
  • Smith Johnston, from the medical branch at NASA
  • Dr. Garrett Reisman, Astronaut, NASA
  • Major General Ido Nehushtan, Commander of the Air Force
  • Col. Eli Polak - Intelligence Corps - Commander of the Satellite Unit

This is of course for all senior officials of the industry in Israel, and the event will also be attended by President Shimon Peres and Minister Majalda, the Director of the Space Agency Zvi Kaplan and many others.

The second half of the conference on its second day will be devoted to the issue of space in education and will discuss various aspects of space exploration as a promoter of education. Among others, guests in this part of the conference will be Dov Lautman, chairman of the "Hall Education" movement and Hezki Arali from the Council of the Association for Excellence in Education.

As part of the event, there will be a ceremony to award Ilan Ramon scholarships to outstanding students with the participation of his widow, Rona Ramon.

Pete Worden, head of the Ames Space Center, NASA, USA will speak at the conference on the habitation of Mars and discoveries of objects close to Earth; Antonio Taiani, Vice President of the European Union will speak about the use of space from a European perspective, Aryeh Halzband, plant manager of the Space Company, Iai'i Airit will speak about "a single satellite for a system of systems". Dr. Michael Simpson, President of the International Space University will present the university as a major player in the space community.

Smith Johnson, Medical Branch, NASA, USA will talk about extended space missions - from the International Space Station to Mars and beyond. And astronaut Dr. Garrett Reisman, NASA, will talk about man in space - impressions from a journey in space.

Wednesday's afternoon session will deal with Israel in space. Thursday's morning session will focus on the topic "Space as a scientific, technological and economic engine"; And the second half of the day will be dedicated to the topic - "Space as a stimulus for science and technology studies".
