The scripture reports on this judge in only one verse in Judges 33:XNUMX: "And after him was Shamgar son of Anat, who defeated the Philistines six hundred men by teaching the cattle and saved Israel as well."

The scripture reports on this judge in only one verse in Judges 33:XNUMX: "And after him was Shamgar son of Anat, who defeated the Philistines six hundred men by teaching cattle and saved Israel as well." It is hard to believe that he killed so many warriors in just one battle. It seems therefore that this is a series of battles. The verse states that with this weapon he killed six hundred Philistines. From this the conclusion is drawn that the number of Philistines he killed was greater, but that he killed them with ordinary weapons.
The fact that he made military use of agricultural tools indicates an unconventional thinking ability, which allowed him to use the element of surprise in the battles he conducted and in which he participated. He seems to have developed various fighting techniques with Melamed the Cattle. The Philistines most likely followed his ways of fighting and learned his methods of operation and yet he killed such a large number of warriors from them in training, which means that he included his fighting techniques without a break, he knew how to trick them and surprise them. From this assemblage of the hards it can be seen that Shamgar ben Anat had a very high military skill. He was a virtuoso fighter, if he were alive today, he would have served as a fighter and as a commander in elite units.
