The Minister of Science Jacob Perry met in London with the Prime Minister of Great Britain, David Cameron and the British Minister of Science Mr. David Wilts and gave speeches as part of his visit to the British House of Lords to mark the achievements of the "BIRAX" program for scientific cooperation between Israel and Great Britain.
Minister Perry met with British Prime Minister David Cameron at his residence, where they lit the first Hanukkah candle together. From there the two continued to the House of Lords, to mark the achievements of Israel and Britain in the field of science. Minister Perry, who spoke in the House of Lords, called on the British government to put an end to the provocations going on in the academy against Israeli researchers: "Israeli science is Israeli pride, don't let provocations manage the scientific cooperation between Israel and Britain."

During Minister Perry's meeting with the British Minister of Science, the two agreed on expanding and increasing the scientific cooperation budget between Israel and Britain. "The scientific cooperation agreement between Israel and Great Britain is the most appropriate response to the calls in Great Britain to boycott Israel," noted Minister Perry.

Due to the calls to boycott Israeli researchers and products, Minister Perry asked the British Minister of Science to act more strongly against the phenomenon, "Israeli researchers and representatives undergo boycotts and provocations within the universities, which turns the academic environment into a purely political environment, we must eradicate these phenomena"

British Science Minister David Wilts detailed the various actions of the British government to curb these phenomena and noted that in recent days the British academic umbrella organization issued a booklet of instructions regarding the invitation of external lecturers, which guides the institutions to respect freedom of expression and to allow the voicing of a variety of opinions, while balancing, among other things, with the legal obligation not to allow the expression of support for terrorism or encouragement of violence.
Fund background (BIRAX) British-Israeli Research Academic Exchange

The main goal of the initiative to promote cooperation between the two countries was to respond to the occasional calls in Britain to boycott academics from Israel. To this end, the British Council proposed in 2008 and under the leadership of the Israeli Ministry of Science and Technology, a program for scientific cooperation that includes possibilities for joint research for short periods and meetings between Israeli and British scientists in order to promote scientific relations between the two countries - the BIRAX (British-Israeli Research and Academic Research) program. The joint fund's budget now stands at NIS 45 million.

So what are you claiming? that everything is politics??
By the way, the foreign minister is recovering, is debating with his ministers and will hopefully return to ministerial activity soon.

  2. Even Obama, who may be quite hateful to the public in Israel (perhaps I'm wrong), finances Israel's multi-layered defense systems, not out of a desire to save Israel, God forbid, but because they are the only ones that work, and because there is a huge demand for them.
Arrow 2 wanted to be bought by 3 countries and a veto was imposed, and Iron Dome was wanted by 6 countries, including NATO. And I'm sure they'll want a magic wand too. We do not have a critical mass of population. We are not 65 million like Iran. We are only 5 million Jews and another 3 million non-Jews.

  3. A different point of view from those presented here by the commenters: the work of ministers who are not foreign ministers, without the involvement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at all, such as the Minister of Science and the Minister of Justice, and the right-wing Prime Minister - is what led to the rescue of the European budget.
In Europe, it seems to me that in absolute terms, that is, not normalized for the amount of population, Israel is still in 2nd place in science, without precedent. When practical survival (of science) is required, demagoguery does not work. When practical steps are needed, the people ministerially entrusted with the task are not there. Their theories are beautiful for statements. It's good that we have Yaakov Perry, despite being an opportunist, Netanyahu who, despite his statements, recognizes the necessity of aid, and Tzipi Livni, whom others call Tzipitpot. You cannot burn all the matches in the package called the State of Israel. Europe and the USA are struggling with the inability to make a living, and reached an agreement with Iran because of the money. The world we are walking into is much more difficult for Israel. Science is currently the only hope for Israel's economic survival. Where is the foreign minister when you need him?

  4. These Palestinians are ruining our lives. If in 1948 we had been tougher, then everyone would have accepted the State of Israel as a fact. You don't see anyone boycotting the Americans on the grounds that they stole the lands of the Indians.

  5. Perry is the minister for nothing.

The Ministry of Science was established only for coalitional reasons: they had to give the Yesh Atid party a ministry, according to the number of its voters, so they kept this ministry for it. Those who decide on budgets in Israel are bodies in the Ministry of Finance in consultation with other bodies: such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministries of the Economy, various academic bodies, etc. The matters of the boycott are also closed in Britain with the Prime Minister there, not with the Ministry of Science there (if there is such an office at all in Britain).
