Tomorrow (Monday, May 30, 2016) the Ministry of Science will launch the "Science Basket": a support program for local authorities to encourage activities and events in the fields of science, technology, cyber, robotics and space.
The program is designed to expand and deepen the activity in these fields for the general public and among children and teenagers in particular, and is used in a row for many new populations.
The Minister of Science, Ofir Akunis, said: "I made the continuation of the activity to encourage and strengthen the activity of science, technology and innovation a top priority. The Ministry of Science under my leadership sees great importance in nurturing children and teenagers for scientific and technological education. For the first time in the history of the office, we established a mechanism to support the activities of local authorities.
I believe that cooperation between the Ministry and the local authorities will allow us to influence and promote the younger generation, which is the basis for Israel's existence as a pioneering and innovative country in the future as well. The local authorities are natural partners for carrying out these activities. On the basis of the "Science Basket" it is possible to develop and expand the range of services for diverse target audiences."
As part of the "Science Basket" the Ministry of Science will encourage activities, events, initiatives and excellence in science, technology and innovation throughout the country and in particular among the geographical and social periphery in Israel. The activities will be carried out in the framework of classes, camps, special activities, competitions, expeditions and assistance in the purchase of ancillary equipment for carrying out the activities.

One response

  1. The minister wants to succeed, and bless you for that. Why won't he cooperate with the Ministry of Education? Maybe he will be able to get budgets from the lottery factory as well? Perhaps he will succeed in building a framework for a national fund for investment in space research and technologies (say, until they reach 100 or 300 million shekels - for every shekel of contribution the state will give a shekel, or a tax break for those who donate to the National Fund for Space Research). If we fly on the wings of the vision, then even establish a stock exchange Israeli only for space technologies - not just an index, these are a real stock exchange. Or a digital currency that will be dedicated to trading in space issues (for the days of settlements outside this planet, but that's another science fiction)
