Saturn is at its closest point to the Earth tonight and being opposite the Sun and bright it will be visible throughout the night

An opposition is the situation where the Earth is almost exactly in a straight line between Saturn and the Sun. Therefore, it will shine throughout the night from the moment the sun sets until it rises tomorrow morning.

Saturn is one of the most amazing objects that can be seen through a telescope, even the smallest amateur telescope. These days it is especially bright in the night sky (magnitude 0.3+) when it comes to contrast with the sun.

An opposition is the situation where the Earth is almost exactly in a straight line between Saturn and the Sun. Therefore, it will shine throughout the night from the moment the sun sets until it rises tomorrow morning.

The Slooh Space Camera located in the Canary Islands will transmit the images of Saturn in contrast, with its rings also spread out at an impressive angle starting at 01:30 GMT (04:30 Israel time) tonight (April 29).
It will be possible to watch the broadcast from any computer on the Slooh.com website or by downloading a free app for iPad in the ITUNES store and clicking on the broadcast icon.

For those who miss it, even in the coming weeks Saturn will still give a beautiful celestial display. All that is needed is to simply go outside, and watch it even with binoculars or a simple telescope.
