After I was asked to be interviewed on the Emanuel and Ben program on "Non-Stop Radio" on 20/12/2012 about past predictions that did not come true, I am bringing the list I made (and I read only a part of it on the broadcast)

634 BC - many Romans feared that the city would be destroyed on the 120th anniversary of its founding. This is due to a myth according to which 12 eagles revealed to Romulus a mystical number that symbolizes the longevity of Rome. Some early Romans decided that each eagle represented 10 years.

Quotations from Jesus in the New Testament have been interpreted by biblical experts, including Albert Schweitzer and Johannes Weiss, as a prediction of a great apocalypse. According to these studies, back in the first century, some of the first Christians expected that Jesus would return within one generation after his death. Learn the facts and then write. Otherwise you're out of luck.

Scientists never claimed that Manhattan should be under water today.

Unfortunately, and unfortunately for everyone who loves their children, it turns out, factually, that the situation is more serious than those scientists claimed at the time.

It's upsetting that people like you are spreading lies that will harm children's lives. It's a sad combination of evil and stupidity.

    Everything you said is wrong.
In the US alone, 600 billion dollars (at that time) were invested in fixing the problems. Instead of thanking the engineers, you slander.

Climate scientists never claimed that Manhattan would be under water today. On the other hand, today we know that climate scientists underestimated the dangers, and the situation is more serious than they thought.

Uneducated people like you will always come and slander exactly those who take care of their children.

This combination of evil and stupidity has already done tremendous damage in the world. But what do they care???

  3. How did you jump from a thousand bugs to the Antichrist in the same sentence? After all, these were "computer scientists" who predicted the Alfiim bug and advised us not to fly on a plane during the date change, withdraw a lot of cash at an ATM in advance, and there were even those who advised to try not to be in cities while it was happening because everything would collapse. run away to the woods.
Which reminds me of another catastrophe that didn't happen - according to some climate scientists, Manhattan should have been underwater a long time ago...

  4. The pretended departure of Maran Edmor from Lubavits, Israel, proves that he knows that the war of Gog and Magog is about to come, and therefore he only reveals his face in secret, and only virtuous individuals know his location.
When it appears to everyone's eyes, it will be a supreme sign that the end of all flesh is imminent and we must change our actions, repent and strike at sin, otherwise we will all be swallowed up

  5. The end of the world did not materialize, why? The end of the world does not come in one fell swoop, it comes in stages as it is created step by step, since the beginning of the millennium there have been dozens of disasters we have been attacked around our globe, it operates according to its own laws, to the end of the world? This is only the first batch of mega disasters that will come upon us. A disaster does not prepare us, the world is wise on a genius level in creating it to what it is today, so is it wise to destroy itself???
    Sincerely, Sami Elkayam

  6. To Itzik, you probably mean big rip
    http://heb.wis-wander.weizmann.ac.il/%D7%A4%D7%A8%D7%A1-%D7%A0%D7%95%D7%91%D7%9C-%D7%91%D7%A4%D7%99%D7%A1%D7%99%D7%A7%D7%94-2011#.UNco2K4zJJo
I don't understand the criticism of some people here regarding the article (especially the criticism of Itzik's bridle extension).
It can be classified under the heading "scientific education and critical thinking" - which, in my opinion, is just as important as scientific results. Because without it, not only would we not have scientists, but also their conclusions would not be accepted by the public.
This topic is certainly appropriate for a scientific site that aims to make science accessible to the public, because that is exactly what this site does - well done, Father!!

  7. Of course this is a partial list, but a great article.
It seems to me that the more dramatic end of the world were in 1000 and 1033 - I would be happy to know more about it.

  8. By the way, one thing related to doomsday is that I saw this week on the Science Channel regarding dark matter, that in 50 billion years, due to the relationship between dark matter and energy, a situation will arise where the matter has disintegrated and whatever it is is a kind of black screen in front of us and then everything will disappear, is there anyone here who can raise the issue In the article here, he will detail the issue for me, because in the program they talked about it superficially. And does it have the ability to shrink the space back to its starting point? Or only the matter will move to the starting point in the "big bang" theory.
If anyone knows a site that explains the matter I would also welcome it. (also possible in English).
    And please no crazy things...
    Thank you.

  9. N.C.:
And to Tommy I thought I was the only sane one on this site.

All the other delusional here (and you know who you are):
People here do science degrees and it seems to me that it makes them more delusional by the moment.
There are people here who are astronomers, someone found the truth about Planet X that was supposed to arrive yesterday and exterminate the human race, there was a greater chance that I would get an attitude that Apophis would hit the Earth tonight than the chance that Planet X (Nibiru) would emerge from the darkness and destroy the Earth. The dark matter in space is easier to discover than Nibiru, really guys, stop trolling the site.

  10. Wait, wait, give it a chance!!!! There are still 5 and a half hours to destruction... and if not... wait a minute, actually we have to calculate according to Guatemala time and there the time seems to be 11 in the morning, so there is still a chance for destruction.

In the name of all the "cuckoos", the fools, the fools, the idiots, the "newbies" and the rest of the loosers.

  11. Father, be ashamed that this is what a person like you finds worth writing about on a website that pretends to respectfully represent science and denounce the infantile nonsense of dark people!

  12. If stupidity were a painful disease...
Come on guys, there is nothing more waiting to be messed with, have you been infected with that bug of all the bored Christians who happen to believe all the doomsday nonsense?
Really, every week I wait to discover and learn something new in science and all I discover is that this site is mercilessly turning into a mystical site, maybe do us a favor and bring us something a little more serious. If I wanted to read this nonsense, I would buy bazooka gum, at least there the jokes are more entertaining....
This site has become a joke, what happened did you get infected from the "end of the world" week on the National Geographic channel?
    Shame on you!!!!!!!

  13. My father, I heard the program - thanks to Kader Omer for the link.
You have a small mistake, the sun is heating up, in another billion years it will be hot enough to evaporate the oceans. That means we only have a billion years to escape from Earth.

  14. Haim Mazar.

About the entirety of these prophecies it was said: "From the time the Temple was destroyed, prophecy was given only to fools" and the Sages were right. It should not be forgotten that prophecy in the Bible has a completely different meaning than giving future predictions. The prophets were educated and sharp-witted people. Each of them had a combination of extremely high intelligence, a rich language and a deep understanding of the political and social reality in which they lived. In today's terms, they were the people of realpolitik in the classical sense of the term and also a militant and very opinionated opposition. Apocalyptic visions were not in their writings. Regarding those fortune tellers, whether they watch the stars, or read in coffee (for example, I read in a cup of tea with lemon) and tarot cards, I say two things. I am discussing these predictions for the famous Age of Aquarius - to me the Age of Aquarius reminds me of a sponge and as for the phenomenon of spirituality, if I stand next to a ventilator I will also be spiritual. Hoping I don't stand with my back to him so I don't catch pneumonia.

Only one question is asked. Why are there those who are engaged in this field and devote a lot of time to it and many people follow them in droves? The answer must be sought in mass psychology and sociology. Is there anyone who is ready to pick up the gauntlet and write a master's or third degree thesis on this?
