The government approved the appointment of Peretz Vezan to the position of Director General of the Ministry of Science

In his last position he managed two districts in the Israeli Employment Service - South and Dan District. Vezan, a lieutenant colonel (acting) in the IDF, headed the southern district in the front line command structure. He fulfills his service in the reserves as a combat director in the Rachel National Authority.

The Israeli government this morning unanimously approved the appointment of Peretz Wezan to the position of Director General of the Ministry of Science. Vezan will replace Adv. Ido Sharr in his position as of February 1, 2016.

In his last position he managed two districts in the Israeli Employment Service - South and Dan District. Vezan, a lieutenant colonel (acting) in the IDF, headed the southern district in the front line command structure. He fulfills his service in the reserves as a combat director in the Rachel National Authority.
Vezan brings with him extensive experience in leading projects that promote employment while providing professional service to tens of thousands of citizens, has extensive experience working with authorities and business entities, and has a rich background in command, headquarters, training and operations.
Vezan has a bachelor's degree in economics and logistics and a master's degree in administration and public policy from Bar Ilan University.
Married and the father of a son and a daughter, who are currently serving in regular service in the IDF.

Science Minister Ofir Akunis congratulated Vezan after the confirmation of the appointment to the position, thanked him for agreeing to take on the complex position and said: "This is a very worthy person for an important and challenging position. Peretz Vezan brings to the role values ​​of professionalism, management, experience, integrity and a deep familiarity with the public systems in Israel. I am sure that his appointment will greatly contribute to the Ministry of Science, including industry, academia, research and development. His vast experience and skills will help advance the ministry's policy, especially in making science and technology accessible to the general public in Israel and narrowing gaps, with an emphasis on the periphery."
