The Ofek 11 satellite is back in action and has sent the first images

On Thursday afternoon, the camera of the Ofek 11 satellite was successfully activated. The Ministry of Defense: "The satellite will provide operational outputs." This is an advanced hyperspectral camera developed and manufactured by Elbit Systems

After a nerve-wracking week during which there were fears of disruptions to the functioning of Israel's new spy satellite, Ofek 11, the first images taken by the observation satellite were received on Thursday. The Ministry of Defense put up a post in which it reports that the engineering and operations teams of the Aerospace Industry (the manufacturer of the satellite) and of the Space Administration at the Ministry of Defense, "activated for the first time this evening at 17:10 the base of the Ofek 11 observation satellite, and downloaded the first images from the satellite."

The announcement stated that since the launch, last Tuesday, dozens of engineers have been engaged in operations to stabilize the satellite and its systems. The Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industries teams activated and tested gradually and in a controlled manner all the systems and subsystems that make up the satellite, while throughout the days, from the moment of launch, continuous contact and control of the satellite was maintained. The Ministry of Defense stated that "the Ofek 11 satellite will provide operational outputs". This apparently means the satellite is under control and fully functional.

  1. It also sounds to me from this wording that the satellite is not functioning to its full potential and that some of the systems are not functioning, if everything was normal they would have said this clearly as in previous times: "All the systems have been tested and are functioning as expected" or similar wording.

  2. To Yossi - Arrow 3 cannot be used to launch satellites. It does not rise to these heights and has no ability to bear weight. The Comet missile series is very good for this use.

  3. It's good that the camera is working but if they had to turn off some of the systems, the Greek probably isn't working at full capacity.

  4. Beautiful. At Belvin we are good. Another step is to take an Arrow 3 launcher - and launch satellites with it. delusional? Not the same height?
I'm not knowledgeable and guess not the smartest in the business.
