Jules Verne for adults

The fresh and promising publication, "Ahujat Beit", takes its first steps in the market with a novella penned by the classic writer

Towards the centenary of Jules Verne's death, the new publishing house, "House Estate", will publish a translation of the novella "The Vision of Doctor Oaks", translated by Dorie Manor.

The text is an amusing parable about the weak human nature. At its center, a malicious experiment conducted by a scientist named Dr. Oaks drives a sleepy town crazy, provoking the members of the community to show extreme expressions of love and hate.

The text, published in the seventies of the 19th century, in France, and adapted several times for opera, offers the local readership to be exposed to another wing of the work of the one who is considered the father of fantasy and science fiction literature (and time and time again it has been good to predict what the future holds). Among his works are the beloved children's classics "20 thousand miles under the surface of the water", "Around the world in 80 days", "To the moon", "Journey to the bowels of the earth", which recently received renewed attention in the world due to the celebrations of the centenary of his death that will be held on the 24 March 2005.

As mentioned, this is the first work that will emerge from "Ahujat Beit", the publishing house edited by Shari Gutman, which aims for Alex to have a bookshelf of "quality" original and translated works.

In the first year of its work, the publishing house plans to publish a magazine for literature and poetry called "Ho!", which will be edited by Dori Manor and Anna Harman, and will be participated by Maya Arad, Efrat Mishori, Bnei Mer and others. In addition, it is planned to release a translated masterpiece classic, two anthology source books inspired by the stories of the Bible and a canonical selection of children's songs.

The announcement was published in the media in August 2004
