A new subject in high schools "Science and Technology for All" announced yesterday in a circular from the Director General of the Ministry of Education. Starting with the 1 school year (opening on September 2015, 5), a new subject will be taught - "Science and Technology for All" in the scope of XNUMX credits. The new subject combines two existing subjects - "Science and Technology in Society (MOTV)" and "Technology Sciences".

The circular shows that the purpose of the new subject is to impart scientific-technological literacy to the students of the upper division in the technological classes and the theoretical classes in a way that will enable their integration into modern society and their participation in the public discourse on a variety of issues related to science and technology.

The instruction details the structure of the new subject, the study framework as well as the study topics and assessment methods.
The subject "Science and Technology for All" which gradually connects the subjects "Science and Technology in Society (MOTV)" and "Technological Sciences" and the students will be tested within it for matriculation in the scope of 5 study units. The new profession will be taught both in the theoretical classes and in the technological classes. The teaching scope of this subject will be the same as the teaching scope of the MOTV and technological sciences subjects studied in the past.

The new subject is intended for students who do not specialize in the disciplinary sciences and for students who have chosen to study a basic non-scientific subject in a technology major. (meaning it is an alternative to choice A in technological education) Its purpose is to expose them to scientific-technological ideas, as well as to impart to them the language, concepts, skills and ways of thinking that will enable them to keep up to date with innovations and integrate into life and work in a society where the weight and influence of science and technology are increasing.

Basic scientific-technological literacy will allow students to consume scientific-technological knowledge in an informed way for their use in everyday life as well as to understand the environmental and social effects of the developments in the fields of science and technology and to participate in public discourse on issues that concern everyone, such as the quality of medical treatments or maintaining the privacy of information. The ability to take an active and informed part in the public debate is a condition for integration into modern society.

The curriculum and the nature of the profession were formulated during the year by a committee in which representatives from both fields participated - teachers, experts and academics. In accordance with the committee's recommendations, existing learning materials will be adapted and new ones will be developed.

  1. you have a mistake. That's 33 readers a day. The rest 9967 are clicks of miracles... 🙂

  2. "Bible"

I am indeed a leftist (you have to be a very stupid person to think that this is a bad thing or that it is a derogatory word), miracles on the other hand are not. But the fact that you think that any human being's relationship to the word Torah is somehow related to his political position clearly indicates your position along the axis of ignorance and intelligence. The fact that I bother to explain to people where they failed to understand what they read and/or draw their conclusions has nothing to do with Mila Torah. The fact that you think so also indicates the above. Good luck with that.

  3. Raphael

My father wrote "This is more important than what my father said to my grandfather 2,000 years ago"

To say that one thing is more important than another does not mean that the other is not important.

Now, I personally do think so, and maybe even probably my father does too, but he didn't say that.

It has 33 visitors on the site.
He managed to convince 4 idiots to jump every time they write "Torah" so that the site would smell of leftism.
So how do you expect him to attract the other 17 potential readers to this blog without the provocation?

  5. My father, what my father said to Rava 2000 years ago is more important than anything else. Why are you putting it in? Isn't it enough to say that science is important? Do you have to add that the Torah is not important?

  6. The new subject bar, which replaces two other subjects and therefore does not increase the overhead, is intended for those who do not study math and science, in order to provide them with basic scientific literacy as well.

There is no debate about the importance of mathematics. There is a problem with the other three you mentioned. I think that the school should impart tools and not (only) knowledge. You need an understanding of all three professions you mentioned, but you don't need to go into depth in any profession - mainly because it is not possible. There is not enough time and not enough mathematical background.

You are very right in the context of wasting money. The Ministry of Education is a huge machine for turning money into air, and the previous Minister of "Education" excelled at this.

  8. Can't understand why every two days a new subject is invented while there is a serious decline in the number of students studying math, physics, chemistry and biology. What the heck! Gaza subject in high school? After all, a student who wants to go study a real major at the university will need mathematics and one more of the three I mentioned. So why waste the student's time and the state's money (new profession, new procedures, supervision, books, etc.). It is better to focus on good salaries for talented teachers in basic science studies and refreshing the existing content.

What you say will keep the children very far behind children in the rest of the world. Without a scientific basis, there is no point in studying a profession.

  10. Nice, ignorance of laws does not cause harm, on the other hand, lack of scientific literacy causes harm because every person has to make decisions in his life and today every decision has a scientific basis - to vaccinate his children, to know what is healthy to eat and what is not, to know what it means to establish a polluting factory in the environment, etc. This is more important than what Abe told the Rabbi 2,000 years ago. Of course, it is always important to have general knowledge, but as you write, resources are limited. And if resources are limited it is better that they receive scientific literacy over anything else.

  11. Try to make sure that a child leaves high school with something in hand. It seems that the children are taught in a roundabout way. You can teach a subject and those who want will continue to study after high school. The tests draw all the forces from the students. There is a school that teaches a law class and there is a school that does not. So why do you need a test? According to the fact that there is a school that doesn't study the subject, it means that there is no obligation to study it and not take the test. This is just an example of one subject. A child needs general knowledge, but not everything because it is not practical. As a child, he will later study extensively What interests him and what he is more successful at. In conclusion: less stress and more purpose for the profession.
