5.5 million NIS for 4 Israeli partners in the project in the field of nanotechnology within the sixth framework for R&D

Dr. Eli Ofer, Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Research and Development: The exposure to the European R&D programs contributes added value by allowing companies to be exposed to the forefront of technology, innovative applications, markets and collaborations with the leading bodies in Europe.

NIS 5.5 million was awarded to the four Israeli partners in the 'Nano-Select' project for research in the field of nanotechnology: Bar Ilan University (leading the project), the Hebrew University and the companies: INK SURE and OSM-DAN.

It should be noted that the project, with a total scope of 3.2 million euros, is financed by the sixth framework program of the European Union and deals with the development of technologies for the production of nanoparticles of metals and oxides for applications such as anti-counterfeiting, pigments and cosmetics. Bodies from Europe are also partners in the project, including Kent and Coventry Universities from England, the University of Padua from Italy, the German Max Planck Institute and the BASF company from Germany.

Dr. Eli Ofer, the chief scientist at the Ministry of Science and Technology said that the field of nanotechnology was declared by the research committee as a preferred field and projects in the field receive increased grants. The exposure to the European R&D programs contributes added value by allowing companies to be exposed to the forefront of technology, innovative applications, markets and collaborations with the leading bodies in Europe.

Marcel Staun, CEO of ISERD, says that the results of the Israeli participation in the second reading of the 'Nanotechnology-Materials-and Manufacturing Processes' program, in which the 'Nano-Select' project was also approved, amounts to 26 Israeli bodies, which take part in 18 projects, and will receive Financing in the amount of 8.5 million euros. Of which 11 are industrial companies and the rest are universities and research institutions.
