Cassini photographed the moon Mimas

A huge crater on its surface was the inspiration for the Death Star in Star Wars

The large eye of Saturn's moon Mimas, the 130 km diameter impact crater named Herschel Crater, stands out against the moon's battered ground in this raw image taken by the Cassini spacecraft during its approach to this moon on August 2.
Herschel Crater is the most prominent feature of this moon and the impact that created it nearly destroyed Mimas. Cassini passed within 62,700 km of the surface of the Moon - the closest approach ever.
