The Magnet Committee, chaired by Dr. Eli Ofer, the Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Employment, approved new plans to promote the industrial potential of academic research in Israel.

12 programs were approved in the "Magneton" track, which helps to carry out joint R&D between a research group in an academy and a development group in an industrial company for the purpose of testing and transferring the technology from the academy to the company - in the scope of a budget of about 17 million NIS (a 66% grant).

Among the new approved programs is a collaboration between the Aeronautics Company and the Technion to develop a new technology for an electric ignition engine, between Pudding University and Ben Gurion University in developing an algorithm for identifying a person's age based on a voice recording, Nice University and Bar Ilan University to process speech signal analysis, Sima Nanotech and the Hebrew University - to develop a new method for the preparation of transparent conductive coatings.

Magneton director Ilan Peled added that all the academic research institutions in Israel are partners in the "Magneton" activities, and the industrial companies are given the opportunity to be exposed and to test the best ideas resulting from academic research. Big for the company if they end successfully.

Chief Scientist Dr. Eli Ofer emphasizes that strengthening the relationship between academia and industry is one of the strategic and important pillars of the activities of the Office of the Chief Scientist and the Magneton program is one of the prominent programs in this direction.
