The world according to Johann Kepler
ID. Full name: Yohan Kepler
Born on 12.12.1571 in the city of Weil, state of Württemberg, Germany. Died in 1630 in the city of Ratisbon
Lived about 400 years ago
Main occupation: Astronomer Royal
Other occupations and hobbies: Mathematician and optics researcher
Big Love: Writing Science Fiction Stories
He is remembered because: He discovered that the planets move around the sun in ellipses and not in circles, as was thought until that time.
A sick child, but a teenager. Johann Kepler was born into a poor family. When he was four years old he got smallpox and it affected his hands. His eyesight was also damaged. He excels in studies and studied astronomy. At the age of 23 he was already appointed a professor.
stars Johan is interested in the movement of the planets around the sun and writes an important book. The famous Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe invites him to the observatory near the city of Prague, Czech Republic. Barha became famous as a scientist as well as a hot-tempered man, a brawler and a duellist. In one of them he lost his nose - then he became even more famous, because he was fitted with a gold artificial nose! From now until Brahe's death (1601) Kepler would be his faithful assistant. So he succeeded him as director of the observatory and royal content of the emperor.
The human computer. Kepler was convinced that Copernicus (remember who he is?) is right, and that the Earth and the other planets revolve around the Sun, and the Sun does not revolve around the Earth. But do the planets move in circles? Kepler thinks not. For more than 20 years he made calculations, until he discovered that the planets move in ellipses around the sun, and not in perfect circles.
Not long ago, someone repeated Kepler's calculations exactly as Kepler performed them, but with the help of a computer.
If Kepler had a computer, the calculation, which took over twenty years, would have been over in a few seconds! How lucky we are today to have computers!
Grow rays to the light. Kepler is also interested in optics. He hypothesizes that light spreads in lines and calls them "rays". Since then we talk in science about the rays of light.
Who needs science fiction books? Kepler wants to spread his scientific theory. That's why he writes science fiction books. In his book he tells about a journey from the earth to the moon. Winds propel space flights to the moon. On the moon, they meet the inhabitants - tough-skinned creatures, who live in caves to hide from the burning sun. Kepler is still considered to be the first science fiction writer who had scientific knowledge.
