On 5/12/06, the Kinneret Academic College in the Jordan Valley will hold the opening conference of the Chair for the Study of the History of the Land of Israel, named after David Bornblum.
The chair established at the Kinneret Academic College in the Jordan Valley is the second chair established at a college in Israel, and the first for the study of Israel's history, established as part of any college in Israel. Its establishment is a direct continuation of the process of expansion and academicization of the colleges and the transition to the field of institutionalized research. The establishment of the chair was made possible thanks to a donation of 330,000 dollars received from members of the Bornblum family.
The first part of the conference will be dedicated to the foundation of the chair, in which Professor Uriel Rappaport - the outgoing president of the Kinneret Academic College in the Jordan Valley, and Mr. Eliyahu Lish - the chairman of the executive committee of the Kinneret Academic College in the Jordan Valley, will speak. The first part will be marked by the lecture of Professor Emeritus Yaakov Goldstein, Head of the Chair for the Study of History at David Bornblum, Kinneret Academic College in the Jordan Valley.

The central part of the conference will revolve around the topic of "David Ben-Gurion and his contemporaries" and it will open with the words of Professor Hanoch Lavi, the incoming president of the Kinneret Academic College in the Jordan Valley and will continue with a series of lectures on Ben-Gurion, his conception of the state and his relations with his colleagues. The conference will be closed by a speaker on the topic "David Ben-Gurion's contribution to shaping the image of the State of Israel" under the guidance of Mr. Moki Tzur and with the participation of Mr. Aryeh (Luba) Eliav, Prof. Aryeh Naor and Prof. Natan Yanai.

At this conference, the chair begins to fulfill its goals: promoting research on the people of Israel in the Land of Israel, holding guest lectures and scientific conferences intended for the general public, and hosting researchers' seminars on specific topics.

The "Kinneret Academic College in the Jordan Valley" received academic independence at the end of the academic year XNUMX. In the college, electrical and electronics engineering studies are taught in the engineering school and a department of tourism and hotel studies for a bachelor's degree, the only one of its kind in Israel. Alongside these independent courses, there are the old courses under the academic sponsorship of Bar-Ilan University, such as the popular criminology and psychology courses, and the diverse media studies taught at the School of Communication. Also at the "Kinneret Academic College in the Jordan Valley" there is a school for engineers with many study tracks that grant a certified engineer certificate. One of the busiest majors at the School of Engineering is the architecture and interior design major, which is considered one of the leading majors in its field.
