The new Minister of Science, Technology and Space is starting to get to know the industry his office is entrusted with. In preparation for ChipEx2013 - the annual conference of the Israeli microelectronics industry which will be opened by the minister.

Before the conference he says: "The Israeli microelectronics industry represents about 35% of the total Israeli high-tech exports and is one of the central building blocks of the entire high-tech industry. Multinational companies such as Intel, Marvell, Texas Instruments, Broadcom, and Qualcomm as well as Israeli companies such as Mellanox, Primesense, EasyChip and DSP Group are part of this impressive industry that is considered one of the most advanced in its field in the world. This is also the reason why when Apple decided to establish its first chip development center it chose to do so right here in Israel.

Israel was blessed with brilliant people. But in order to fully utilize our human resources we must continuously invest in the education of the younger generation and encourage continuous innovation in every organization."

The Minister of Science, Technology and Space was invited to open the conference that will be held on May 1, 2013 at the conference center of the David Intercontinental Hotel in Tel Aviv. About 1,500 people from the industry in Israel are expected to participate in the event and it will include an exhibition with about 100 exhibitors from about 20 countries, as well as a professional seminar with the participation of about 50 lecturers and facilitators.

The ChipEx2013 conference is organized by TapeOut, the magazine of the Israeli chip industry and Chiportal in collaboration with SIA - the industry association in the USA, Gary Smith EDA - the leading research company in the global chip market.

All the professional lectures at ChipEx2013 were selected by a professional steering committee consisting of senior academics and industry members headed by Prof. Ran Ginoser, Head of the Research Center for VLSI Systems at the Technion and professional chairman of ChipEx2013. Following the discussion held by the steering committee, Prof. Ran Ginosar said: "This year, several innovative technologies developed in Israel thanks to the innovation and creativity of Israeli engineers will be presented at the conference. From the many applications received, we selected the best ones and I am happy to enable the industry people to learn about these innovations through their presentation at ChipEx2013″.
