In the days of emergency routines, isolation and the lack of educational frameworks, the Israel Space Agency at the Ministry of Science and Technology invites you parents and children to an experiential and enriching activity in outer space: interactive games, a XNUMXD virtual tour between the planets and other solar systems, space puzzles, trivia quizzes, podcasts out of this world , an online academy: lectures on space and special activities for kindergarten children.

Here are some examples:

Interactive games:

  • Landing game on the moon - it's hard to land on the moon: let's land the spaceship on the moon without crashing it: you need to find a landing pad and also slow down the acceleration of the spaceship. This game is reminiscent of the Commodore or Hatari games from the XNUMXs.
  • What does it look like when traveling at the speed of light? Moving at the speed of light in science fiction movies looks like a normal-but-fast night drive, complete with a smearing effect of the surrounding stars. Not really a big story. But what would really happen to the perception of time and space if we moved at the speed of light? Let's try to see what happens to our environment when we move at the speed of light. What happens to the objects? for colors? to the perception of space? And more principles stemming from Einstein's special theory of relativity. The result is quite psychedelic.
  • The tails of comets crossing the Earth A meteor shower is created when the Earth is caught in the debris trail left behind by a comet orbiting the Sun. These remnants, particles of dust and rocks, are captured by the Earth's gravity, they fall through the atmosphere at speeds of tens of kilometers per second, ignite and are seen from a distance as shooting stars. An interactive XNUMXD visualization shows the orbits of the planets in the solar system and their comet tails.\

Space quizzes

  • Mars or Earth? Let's identify where the pictures are from? Earth or Mars?
  • What does it look like from space? Will you be able to identify famous sites photographed from space?
  • Are we alone in the universe? What do you know about aliens?
And many more trivia quizzes and historical riddles.

A virtual tour of other solar systems
Buckle up because the visualizations before you take you on an interactive 360D and XNUMX degree tour of six of the strangest and most fascinating planets discovered. In some visits you will hover at a safe distance from the planets and in some you will hover close to the surface.

Podcasts about space:

  • On space: life, the universe and everything else - how do architects design buildings outside the earth? Why are cyber threats to satellites something we should all be concerned about?
Have we arrived yet? - Everything new and interesting about space flights
Cosmic vertigo - what happens in the night sky and beyond
In a circular path - life, the universe and everything else
Mars (English) - everything you wanted to know about life on Mars and didn't dare to ask
The countdown (English) - the 10 most dramatic space missions in historyOnline lectures for children and adults
  • Online Academy - The space broadcasts for children begin with "Online Academy" in Hebrew and Arabic.
  • Online courses of the Israeli Astronomy Association - lectures for adults.

Activities for kindergarten children

  • Star Trek - activities through which we will teach the children about the solar system, make thimbles that describe the order of the planets, listen to a story and learn to recognize what makes each planet unique! In the end we will play a memory game: planets on the wall.
  • The life of an astronaut - in the attached set we will learn about the life of an astronaut. We will understand the difference between the conduct of life on Earth and the conduct in space, we will get to know the space station, we will imagine how it is possible to function with a bulky space suit, we will take a picture, and we will even bring a souvenir to our parents!
