The Minister of Education and Research of Germany to the science website: in a time of crisis it is important to invest in education and research

Minister Dr. Ante Schwan mentions that the science and research ties between Israel and Germany began before the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and served as the first bridge

The cooperation between Israel and Germany has been active for fifty years, even before there were diplomatic relations between the countries. This is what the Minister of Education and Research of Germany, Dr. Ante Schwann, says in a conversation with the Hidan site, during her visit to Tel Aviv University, yesterday (Tuesday). This visit took place as a follow-up for the Israel-Germany year of science which is being held this year on the occasion of fifty years of scientific relations between the two countries.

"Israel is an attractive partner for Germany, being a high-tech country. There are about 66 collaborations between universities in Germany and universities in Israel. There are many Minerva institutes in all fields of science and research, and therefore we had three wonderful days. We visited Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and several universities as well as the SAP company in Ra'anana, we also visited the National Academy of Sciences. There is great wealth and content in the scientific ties between the two countries."

For the two countries and the two peoples, science education and research are keys to economic development, to human development in both societies, as well as a key to the future and an important part of the spiritual culture of both countries.

Is the investment in research and education in danger?

In times of crisis it is more important than at other times to know what are the important things for future development. Any company today, in the 21st century, that understands that they must invest in education and science and promote modern strategies, will find themselves in a good position, especially in times of crisis.

What do you think about the calls in Europe to boycott Israel, from academics who actually criticize the very existence of the state under the guise of criticizing its policies?

I am against a boycott. I say this to all my colleagues. This is not the way, we need to cooperate in the field of science and research, this is the right way, because relations between Israel and Germany began fifty years ago in the scientific field and only after success in this field, it was possible to open full diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The minister visited Tel Aviv University yesterday, heard an overview of the university as well as a special project shared by Tel Aviv University, Bar-Ilan University and a university from Germany, documenting and preserving about a thousand Hebrew books printed in Germany during the Enlightenment. The project was presented by Prof. Zohar Shavit, who headed the research on behalf of Tel Aviv University, as well as other researchers working on the project, who, due to the lack of budgets, do so in a part-time academic position.

Yesterday (Monday) Minister Schwan announced at a conference of the Israeli and German Ministries of Science about a grant of 20 million Euros for the establishment of an inter-university fund named after Martin Buber. Fund funds will be used for humanities and cultural research and to encourage young researchers in these fields in both countries to mark 50 years of Israel-Germany science relations.

Minister Ralav Majadala: "I warmly congratulate the German Federation for its involvement in promoting joint research and development programs with Israel. Strengthening Israel's ties with Germany is important for a better and safer future for both nations and for the well-being of German and Israeli society.

As part of the conference, the two ministers, Schwan and Majadala, signed an agreement to establish a new Minerva Center at Tel Aviv University and met with researchers and young scientists from Israel and Germany, who received research scholarships from the binational foundation.

  1. Hugin:
Your conclusion from the holocaust is limited and wrong.
The correct conclusion is not that "Germans are animals" but that humans, under certain conditions, become animals. This is true for all people in all nations and it is also demonstrated in other events - beyond the Holocaust.
Taking revenge and leaving is not the right lesson. The correct lesson is to try to prevent recurrence of the phenomenon wherever it may repeat itself.

  2. my father.
I noticed that people who returned to Germany after the Holocaust something in their souls was captured and captured.
The thing is that you may not be able to see what happened to you.
    In BA, think about everything.

    And the little brother.
Thanks, but as I sat down I have to pass again..

  3. Hugin, your psychological analysis is interesting but incorrect. For example, I don't like the behavior of capitalists, and they could easily buy me, as you say...

  4. Welcome back Hugin,

Now you have to turn the screw back half a turn...

how are the kids doing? Everything is fine?

Stop scaring my father and wasting so many commas, enough for a cough to run away.

  5. And an example of a prisoner who loves his prisoners.
You live behind the shadows only. And worse, that you are not aware of your imprisonment.
A global market? Or a global market (if you dream in Q).
You increased to do in your absolute servitude to your slaves (who take turns - like the same lady in a change of dress).
What do I say and what will I say? It's so easy to buy you - like you easily. (The legendary meat pot). May you be mixed.
I don't have a lot of time for unnecessary pampering, check the merits and essence of yourself/and yourself.
All the "Zionist pride" you mentioned, please don't insult it. People who forget the rest, their true spirit, as well as insult their spirit, and ridicule their long lineage,
It is not appropriate to talk about any pride..like it as a completely empty word for this hour..and "empty and hollow pride".

  6. Hugin, I am the son of a Holocaust survivor, and as a technology reporter, the Germans today depend on technology developed in Israel to succeed in the world market, what are you talking about. This is the Zionist answer to the holocaust, and not by crying.

  7. You see how you sold your soul. You became their pafushon and you are not aware?
And "gagging and censorship", do not reduce the severity of the situation.
You are probably also not aware of the eagles' nests that exist. As long as people live who have been through everything, and some of them are captives and injured, there is no right to forgive in their place, and certainly not to deny the Holocaust and all the rest of the burning spirit from eternity (which is not laughing at all, especially if you continue to deny the existence of the rest of their souls and their spirit).
Do you know how many survivors there are who also closed their spirits???Pacifist countries???What happened to you my father???
    They bought you big.!

  8. What happened? They became your example and role model?? They also bought the rest of your spirit and soul?
    Ugh.
