Ido Sharir was appointed Director General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Space

Attorney Ido Shair has been appointed Director General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Space - this was confirmed by the government today. Sharr will replace attorney Bina Bar-On, who is retiring after 30 years of public service.

Sharrir, who served as the CEO of the Peres Peace Center since 2012, ends his position at the center after 3 fruitful years in which the Peres Peace Center, under his leadership, promoted regional cooperation between Israelis and Palestinians in the fields of economy, high-tech and the environment, carried out hundreds of educational activities among children and youth Jews and Arabs in Israel, as well as community activities for bringing hearts together, tolerance and cooperation in Israeli society on all levels.

Shariir has extensive experience in the public sector - he served as the chief of staff of the ninth president Shimon Peres and was a partner in leveraging the president's activities in Israel and abroad. As part of his position, he was responsible for the president's international and regional agenda in his efforts to promote peace and the relationship with senior representatives from the European Union, the United States and Arab countries. As part of the President's activities in these years, he also became familiar with the issue of civil space and science and technology issues and was responsible for coordination between the President's House and government ministries, academics and private entities in the field. Before joining the President's staff, he served as Chief of Staff of the Deputy Minister of Defense, Major General (res.) Matan Vilnai.

In his positions in the private sector, he accompanied and managed companies in crisis in the fields of industry and technology and oversaw restructuring processes in the Israeli and American markets.

Sharr, born in 1975, will be among the youngest CEOs of the ministries currently serving in the government. He is a major in the reserves, a graduate of the Interdisciplinary Center for Law and Government, lives in Tel Aviv, is married to Lior and is the father of two daughters.

"Mr. Sharrir has a lot of experience in many fields, including budget management and project management," Minister of Science, Technology and Space Yaakov Perry said today. "His familiarity with the international arena, the Middle Eastern reality and Israeli society will help him in the development of the office and the field of science in Israel and its promotion in Israel and the world." Minister Perry warmly thanked the outgoing CEO Mrs. Bina Bar-On for the blessed work in the public service in general and in the office in particular.

You will replace Sharr in the position of CEO of the Efrat Dovdevani Prize Center.
