In the end, only cockroaches will remain: half of the vertebrate population has become extinct since 1970

The data was collected for a "health index" of the five main groups of vertebrates: mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians. According to the data, compared to the situation of the populations in 1970, the number of individuals in the populations decreased by 52%.

Half of the vertebrate population has gone extinct since 1970. This is according to an article published in the journal Nature.
In a study by researchers from the "World Wildlife Organization" (WWF) who worked in collaboration with the "Zoological Society of London (ZSL)" data was collected from over ten thousand populations of more than 3,000 species of wild animals.

The data was collected for a "health index" of the five main groups of vertebrates: mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians. According to the data, compared to the situation of the populations in 1970, the number of individuals in the populations decreased by 52%.

This is the tenth report in a series of reports on the "Living Planet Index".
In previous reports, information on different species was collected according to the data that existed, and this time data on biodiversity from many different regions were also taken into account, with detailed reference to each sorting group in each region. For example, you paid more attention to fish than to mammals in the northern region (Plearctic).

According to the previous report published in 2012, there was a 28% decrease in biological diversity between the years 1970 and 1980. In other words, the picture that emerges from the new report is bleak and shows an "alarming loss of biological diversity and damage to habitats essential for their existence and our existence".
And yet according to the coordinator of the report - despite the difficult situation there is hope if we take concerted action to protect nature. As evidenced by the successes in a number of protected areas, such as an increase in the population of the Nepalese tiger (by 63%). But again, most vertebrate populations are in the process of diminishing and some are in immediate danger of extinction such as the rhinos and elephants in Africa or the sharks in the oceans.

And I will add as usual that the time has come that instead of controlling the environment for the sake of the human population, there will be control of the human population for the sake of the environment.

  1. It's terrible. It's terrible that this is happening. It's terrible that there are few comments about this and they are not related to life either.
Well, this star is finished anyway

  2. Africa, it is not a single country. For example in Tswana, it provides its citizens with a better standard of living than Puerto Rico (given by the USA)! I don't like Africa - but it has to be fair. South American countries have existed for 100 years.

  3. South America also has many diseases and Australia is mostly a desert. The truth is that Africa is very corrupt, poor, whiny, with a culture of the stone age and lives on the donations of the world. What South Africa, Zimbabwe used to look like...
And how they look today. There is no excuse for Africa's failures and no book will help, only the facts on the ground.

  4. It is worth remembering that except for Ethiopia and Liberia, all African countries have existed for less than 60 years. (Namibia was established in the 90s). If Israel has not yet succeeded in building a train to Eilat, there are countries in Africa that are 100 times bigger than Israel.

  5. In Israel you will move 50 kilometers away from the coastal plain and you will see a drop in the standard of living. In Africa you will multiply it by 5000 kilometers. In addition, in contrast to the relatively temperate Israel, in Africa there is an extreme climate of the Sahara desert, or a tropical climate - if there are horrific diseases. Hysteria of disconnection from the rest of the world, in contrast to active commercial areas in the rest The world. In short, it's hard - very hard!

  6. Nostradamus
Your ignorance of history and sociology screams to heaven. Read some books on the history of Africa and you will see that the picture is more complex than the simplistic picture you present.

  7. It is better to let the Druze raise porcupines than to hunt them all. And this Nostradamus who will go to hell. Condescends to Africans.

  8. Genetically modified, you are right, today the tremendous damage to nature is caused by non-"white" countries like the whole of Africa for example. Go try to educate them without re-colonization

  9. I agree with you..but the West is not the problem. On the contrary, they are the only ones who act responsibly.

On the other hand, how would you limit a person in Saudi Arabia or India from having twelve children?

And it must be remembered that in the end it's all a matter of numbers - that's why I encourage my European friends to increase the birth rate to counterbalance the ignorant... otherwise it's the end of Western civilization!!!
