The Minister of Environmental Protection, MK Gilad Erdan, this evening inaugurated the first saturated green construction project in the north of the country. The project, "Legends in the Valley" in the Jezreel district of Afula, is the first in the north of the country to be built under the full supervision of the Standards Institute according to Israeli standard 5281. Minister Erdan stated in his remarks that he intends to promote green construction throughout the country and especially outside the central area.
The minister emphasized that construction according to Israeli standard 5281 is very economical in energy and prevents the exposure of house residents to dangerous substances found in the standard construction materials. "So far since 2005, a total of 10 buildings have been approved for construction in Israel according to green standard 5281. The Agadim company's project is the first to be built in the northern region and to my delight, there are currently about 150 more buildings in the pipeline that are entering the construction approval process according to the green standard."

The minister strongly advised the mayor of Afula, Avi Elkabats, to oblige those who submit building plans within the city limits to accept at least some, if not all, of the components of the green building code.

In the "Agadim in the Valley" project, the "Agadim" company is building four seven-story buildings (two garden apartments, two luxurious roof apartments and a total of 19 units) in each building. The developers decided to build the buildings under the supervision and close supervision of the Standards Institute personnel.

The entire construction is carried out according to the Israeli standard 5281, which contains a series of strict requirements on various topics: energy, land, water, materials, health and welfare, waste, transportation, construction site management and innovation. The Israeli Standard 5281 was written and processed by the experts of the Standards Institute, the planning and execution personnel in the various fields of construction and with the assistance of international experts for green construction.

Green construction is economical in the use of electricity and water consumption. Beyond that, the requirements of the Standards Institute require the "Agadim" company to choose specific materials that prevent radiation, the emission of dangerous gases from the walls, and more.
