Apparently gold has a hidden value beyond its economic and cultural value in human history. Already in the Middle Ages, they used to use gold nanoparticles in the design and decoration of glass for churches throughout Europe.
Now researchers are discovering that very small gold particles are charged by the sun and break down airborne pollutants such as volatile organic chemicals (VOC) that come with new furniture, carpets and fresh paint.
"Gold, when it comes in very small particles, becomes very active when it comes in contact with sunlight." Professor Zu Hye Jung's number (Zhu Huai Yong). "The electromagnetic field of sunlight can affect the electrons of the gold and create a resonance. The magnetic field of the surface area of gold nanoparticles can increase up to a hundred times, breaking down polluting molecules in the air."
The by-products of the process are carbon dioxide molecules, which are considered relatively safe, especially in light of the fact that these are small amounts obtained in this process.
The process has already opened up many possibilities for further research. The technology is driven by solar energy and is therefore considered economical, and the effectiveness lies in the fact that only the gold particles are heated while conventional chemical reaction processes require heating of all materials.
