A hydrogen leak caused the launch of the shuttle Endeavor to be delayed

The launch was planned for this afternoon (Israel time) and was delayed by at least 96 hours. The fault itself is in the excess hydrogen removal system after the launch

The launch of the shuttle Endeavor for mission STS-127 to the International Space Station was delayed due to a leak related to the gaseous hydrogen transport system outside the external fuel tank.

The system is used to safely remove excess hydrogen after launch at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. Around 00:30 EST (seven thirty in the morning Israel time) the shuttle project managers decided to postpone the launch for at least 96 hours.

Now the earliest possible launch date is June 17, however there is a conflict in the date range with the planned launch of the Lunar Reconnaissance Rover (LRO) and the Crater Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) followed by another launch, at the US Air Force base in Cape Canaveral.

Mission managers will hold a meeting on Sunday to discuss Endeavour's repair options and launch opportunities.
