In cooperation between 13 European countries and Canada, an Envisat environmental satellite was launched this morning (Friday) from the coast of Guyana in South America. The satellite was equipped with systems that will check the changes in the Earth's soil, oceans, poles and atmosphere. The analysis of the findings collected by the satellite will be used to determine Europe's environmental policy.

The satellite is a joint project of the space agencies of 13 European countries and Canada, but the majority of the funding was provided by Great Britain and France. The satellite will observe the Earth from an altitude of 800 kilometers, and will complete a circle around the country every 100 minutes.

The CEO of the Ariane company, which manufactures the rocket on which the satellite was launched, said that the launch of the rocket is not only a technological success, but also "successful cooperation of all the European industries that participated in the project".
