At a time when the price of oil is skyrocketing and electricity is becoming more expensive than ever, in one place in Israel they decided to prove that it is also possible in another way. In the Science Garden Museum at the Davidson Institute for Wave Science Education, the sun, and even the bicycle become a source of alternative, green and cheap energy. In the upcoming Passover, families are invited to come and learn about new ways of generating energy.
On Passover, the Klor Science Garden at the Davidson Institute for Science Education, the educational arm of the Weizmann Institute of Science, will hold a special activity on sustainability and renewable energies. The activities - suitable for the whole family - will present visitors with natural ways to produce cheap and clean energy, and innovative methods on water, water quality, waste and recycling.
Tours and interactive exhibits will be dedicated to green energy, including a wave boat that uses the energy of the waves to create energy, special wind and water turbines that produce electricity by utilizing water and wind, and bicycles that produce energy by pedaling.
In the Science Garden Museum there is also the eco-sphere complex, a unique and impressive structure, designed in the shape of a glass dome, inside which live a huge variety of creatures, from aquatic plants, through tiny crabs, to the "shy stickmen" - a strange and special insect. The acoustic phenomena caused by the spherical structure of the complex are an experience of voices and sounds, and the plants add colors to the celebration.
Leonardo da Vinci will also be at the Science Garden on Passover, and more precisely a special exhibition of his works and drawings. The plans of da Vinci, a great artist and inventor, many of whose inventions such as the pedal boat, the mechanical drum and inventions in the fields of aviation and marine engineering were ahead of their time, have been resurrected through advanced technology - the result of a collaboration between the Garden of Science Museum and students at Shenkar College.
The activities will take place on Passover, between April 11-8 at 17:00-09:00 p.m.
Entrance fee: NIS 30 for children over the age of 5, NIS 35 for an adult. Discounts will be given to students and pensioners.
Soldiers in regular service and children up to the age of 5 enter free of charge.
