The new system is able to transfer data over broadband at a high rate, at low costs, and can be installed on a variety of platforms
Elbit Systems presents at the air show in Seoul, Korea, which opened this week (October 20), the first complete military solution for satellite communication on the move (SOTM), which enables high-speed data transmission over broadband, at low costs. The system can be installed on a variety of platforms and is unique in its low silhouette.
As part of the new solution, Elbit Systems offers a small and compact communication antenna that enables broadband communication from anywhere and at any time, using unique satellite modem technology.
Bezalel (Butsi) Machlis, CEO of Elbit Land and Communications Systems Tadiran said that the modern battlefield requires the ability to transfer data at a high rate to a large number of users at the same time, with high reliability, even in extreme weather conditions. Elbit Systems' satellite communication solution in motion, ELSAT2000 , meets these high demands with an advanced satellite modem.
The new system is offered in a hardened configuration adapted for military use, and enables two-way communication, without the need for synchronization and without user intervention (the system performs frequency allocation and tracking automatically). The system includes an integral GPS receiver and gyroscope and is easy to install and operate.
The innovative concept of the new system incorporates the modem technology developed by Shiron Satellite Communications, which was acquired at the beginning of 2009. This technology makes it possible to develop appropriate solutions for the growing demands for the transmission of interactive multimedia via satellite to remote areas. This technology, which has already proven itself in the civilian market, creates synergy and complements the military communication technologies implemented in the systems and solutions of Elbit Systems.
