NASA this week connected the boosters to the external fuel tank

The shuttle Discovery itself will be connected to this system soon in preparation for the STS-120 mission scheduled for launch on October 23

At the shuttle assembly facility at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, on Wednesday of this week, technicians attached the external (orange) fuel tank to the two solid fuel boosters in preparation for the STS-120 launch of the shuttle Discovery on October 23.

In the nearby facility, where the ferry itself is located, work continues to prepare it for launch. Among other things, the cargo deck doors were closed in preparation for its transfer to the huge assembly facility. The main payload in this mission is the harmonic component that will increase the volume of the station's work area, and it will be loaded on Discovery after it has already been placed in the launch pad.
