Biomed Israel 2011 - the conference of the decade

The Israeli life sciences industry will celebrate a decade of innovation and entrepreneurship at ILSI-Biomed Israel Week 2011 which will take place on May 23-25 ​​at the David Intercontinental and Dan Panorama hotels in Tel Aviv.

The "ILSI-Biomed Israel 2011" week will celebrate its tenth anniversary this year, during which it became an international conference in which the biggest (and hottest) names in the world from the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medical devices take part every year.

"At the event, which ten years after its founding is considered the largest life sciences meeting outside the US, emphasis is placed on the business-practical aspects of one of the most advanced and successful industries in Israel today," says Ruthie Alon, senior partner in the Pitango venture capital fund, chairman of the association Israeli life sciences and chairman of the organizing committee of the week. "The conference is a meeting point for both industry and academia from Israel and the entire world. The international guests come to hear and witness the innovation up close and to experience the same spirit of entrepreneurship that blows at the back of the Israeli life sciences industry."

According to Alon, as every year, also at the event of the decade, some of the most prominent industry leaders will meet at the conference to discuss the 'burning' issues, whether in science, technology, or the organizational conduct in the industry. "This year, there will be mainly content dealing with science and innovation in the medical field, with an emphasis on thinking outside the box." Among other things, the event will include a symposium on the cardiovascular field, seminars focusing on preventive medicine, biosimilars and biological platforms, neuroscience, uses of technology in the promotion of preventive health, etc. Also in the program: 60 presentations that will be given by the medical device and biopharma companies, bringing up current issues dealing with the economic landscape and the future of the health care system, an exhibition area for companies, and a special place that will be given to a variety of Israeli start-up companies for which this is their first exposure.

The organizers of the event, the Israeli Life Sciences Association - ILSI - and the "Kens" company, estimate that among the thousands of expected participants - CEOs and executives of biopharma and medical device companies, scientists and researchers, entrepreneurs, shapers of public opinion in the field, managers of venture capital funds and private investors - There will also be over 1,000 guests from abroad.
