The General Assembly of the International Astronautical Federation unanimously adopted the "Daejeon Declaration" on space, as the 60th Astronautical Congress closed today in Daejeon, Korea. The federation members are representatives of 52 countries, coming from space agencies, space industries and research institutions (the International Astronautical Federation is a super organization of these organizations and institutions, and it has no members on an individual basis).

The statement calls for increased cooperation between countries in the various fields of space, for research, the utilization of space technologies on Earth, and for education. The statement also calls on countries operating in space to act in the light of UN resolutions and conventions dealing with space.

The statement emphasizes the importance of the international laws concerning human activity in space, and emphasizes the importance of the Outer Space Treaty and the involvement of the United Nations in general in space activity.

If emphasis is placed on a spirit of cooperation between countries and nations, the International Federation for Astronautics believes that it will be possible to strengthen man's ability to use space technologies and its applications for the development of countries and finding solutions to the serious problems of climate change on Earth.

The space conference of 2010 will be held in Prague, of 2011 in Cape Town and this morning it was decided that the space conference of 2012 will be held in Naples.
