The rare species in the Galapagos Islands are in danger of extinction

The large number of tourists and overcrowding on the islands have damaged the ecological balance on the islands, where you can find rare and unique varieties of plants and animals

Tourism, overcrowding and the arrival of alien species threaten the ecosystem in the Galapagos Islands. It was the famous Galapagos Islands that gave Charles Darwin the inspiration for his well-known theory of evolution. Crowds of tourists come every year to visit the Galapagos Islands thanks to the amazing variety of plant and animal species that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. But now all these rare species and varieties are in danger of extinction, precisely for this reason. The French news agency reported that the number of visitors to the islands is putting their delicate ecosystem out of balance.

The authorities in the region have already officially declared that the islands, which are 1,000 kilometers from the coast of Ecuador, are in a state of risk. In order to protect life on the island, which was declared a heritage site by the UNESCO organization, the quotas of tourists allowed to visit the island were limited and restrictions were also imposed on the issuance of residence visas on the island. Also, the number of flights that pass over the islands and disturb the rest of the animals will be reduced.

Due to the serious situation in which the natural life on the islands has fallen, a special delegation of the UNESCO organization was called to examine whether the Galapagos Islands should be added to the list of important heritage sites that are in serious danger.
