The cows produced "medicines" for biological weapons

Four cloned carts, calved in the USA, are the first of a herd of 20 cloned cattle that will be used as a "factory" to create human antibodies.

Their genetic material, DNA, contains genes from the human immune system. The antibodies are produced in the blood.

There is an intention to use this "production line" to produce drugs for multiple sclerosis, various inflammations, possibly also for cancer treatments. The possibility that the cows will produce substances against disease-causing bacteria and viruses that are supposed to be found in biological weapons is being examined. For example: the generators of smallpox and anthrax.

The unique development was reported by Dr. James Rubel, president of the biotechnology company "Hamatek" from the state of Connecticut, USA. The scientists told the journal "Nature Biology" that it is still too early to bring the products of the cows to the hospitals, for medical treatment, since some problems have not yet been resolved. Such as: the need to purify the materials and ensure that they are safe for use and that they will not infect humans with cattle disease pathogens.
