Chen Bambar studio from Be'er Sheva won first place today (Tuesday 9.6.20/7/13) in the finals of the Ramon Space Olympiad for middle schools for middle schools XNUMX. This year, due to the restrictions of the Corona, the final stage was held, in an online format. Chen Bamdar Studio built a model of a complete colony that could exist on Mars called MARS XNUMX. In the model they show the rooms they planned inside the colony, each room has a different purpose and function that helps colonization on Mars. The group has about XNUMX XNUMXth grade students. This is the second win in a row by Olpanat Chen in the desert at the Space Olympics.

261 schools and about 4,000 students from all over the country started the national competition, 28 reached the semi-final stage and 10 of them qualified for the final stage. This year the main theme was man in space - landmarks, technological achievements and challenges. The participants designed, developed and built a model of a manned extraterrestrial station using UAVs - computer aided design and presented them to the panel of judges.

During the final event, the participants were treated to a special surprise, a video of astronaut Jessica Meyer, filmed especially for this event. Mayer, who is half Israeli, returned to Earth about a month and a half ago after spending 205 days in space and made history when, along with another astronaut, Christina Cook, they were the first female crew to perform a spacewalk.

The competition is held on the initiative and funding of the Israel Space Agency in the Ministry of Science and Technology, in cooperation with the supervision of science and technology teaching in the Science Division A in the Pedagogical Secretariat of the Ministry of Education, and with the assistance of the government fund in memory of the first Israeli astronaut Col. Ilan Ramon of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The competition is managed and carried out by the Israeli Center for Excellence in Education.
The Ramon Space Olympiad is a prize-winning team competition in the field of space exploration, which provides a learning experience and is an opportunity to expose students to new challenges, to thinking outside the box, to teamwork and engaging in advanced and fascinating content in the field of space exploration.

During this year's competition, the students participated in five stages in which they faced online quizzes, were required to answer complex riddles, carry out an activity in the community that aims to promote awareness of the issue of space, work together in a group, carry out experiments in the classroom and build a model of a manned station outside the earth using a drone - planning with the help of a computer. The models presented a significant and creative learning process, group cooperation, innovative thinking and the ability to achieve impressive results in a short time. The finalist teams presented the models during the event and were given the opportunity to present them to the jury and the other teams.
