Dr. Ruth Ben-Yaker has been appointed as the director of the business development department at the Weizmann Institute

Dr. Ben-Yaker will replace Dr. Einat Zissman, who has held the position for the past eight years, and will soon begin serving as the CEO of "Hadisit", the applications company of the Hadassah Medical Center

Dr. Ruth Ben-Yaker was appointed to the position of director of the business development department of "Yida Research and Development Ltd", which promotes industrial applications based on the inventions of Weizmann Institute of Science scientists. Dr. Ben-Yaker will replace Dr. Einat Zissman, who has held the position for the past eight years, and will soon begin serving as the CEO of "Hadisit", the applications company of the Hadassah Medical Center.

Dr. Ben-Yiker (Maya) received her Ph.D degree with honors from the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2001. Her research, under the direction of Prof. Moshe Oren from the department of molecular biology at the institute, focused on the growth control of cancer cells and earned her several merit scholarships, including a scholarship from the Wolf Foundation.

In her last position she served as VP of project management at Gamida Sel. Among other things, she managed the StemEx project as part of a joint development by Gamida Sel and Teva. In addition, Dr. Ben-Yaker was involved in the company's business development activities.

Before that, she served as VP of Development and Implementation at Procogenia. In this framework, she coordinated a large-scale R&D activity, was responsible for managing the company's collaborations and participated in its various business activities, and in leading it to an IPO on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. At the beginning of her career in the biotech industry, she served as a senior project manager at QBI, where she was engaged in research and development in the field of cancer medicine.
