Cars in the future may be able to run on fuel produced from beer brewing and distilling products, thanks to a new research project at Abertay University, Dundee in Scotland.

Researchers at the Abertay School of Modern Science have been awarded a prestigious Carnegie Trust research grant to investigate how residues from beer and whiskey production processes can be turned into organic fuel.

The project, which will last a year, will examine methods for turning used grain into organic fuel, a friendlier and more ecological alternative to fossil fuel (fossil fuel).

The main advantages of organic fuel over conventional fuel are that it does not produce carbon dioxide, reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 65%, and because it operates at high temperatures it is safer against fires.

Professor Graham Walker is leading the project. According to him: "Scientists around the world are trying to find a simple and economical way to create organic fuel from waste or low-cost materials. "The amount of fossil fuel in the world is finite - it is estimated that half of the world's oil resources have been used in the last 200 years - and the competition is on to find more environmentally friendly alternatives. "Brazil and the USA have been very successful in creating bioethanol from sugar cane and corn starch respectively. Both together produce more than 70% of the global supply.

"The USA passed Brazil in production, but Brazil remained the main exporter, sending about 3.2 billion liters outside its borders in the last year alone. "However, the methods used in these countries are subject to criticism because they create an ever-increasing demand for land to produce energy crops.

"In countries like Brazil, this could threaten tropical forests and possibly even eliminate any advantage from the use of organic fuel.

"Our research will examine a much more complex process of turning industrial waste products into bioethanol as an example of a second generation organic fuel. "These products today are thrown away or processed and become animal feed and turning them into fuel is an attractive way of utilizing these sources. "Currently there are many technical challenges in converting waste into fuel. We will focus on finding more efficient and cost-effective processes."

  1. A price of $80 per barrel is a reasonable price in relation to the increases in stocks in the world's stock exchanges and the weakening of the dollar.
The real problem will start when the ratio changes.
And currently there are really no alternative energies that can provide a real answer to oil, they are more of a tail wagging.
In addition, oil is not only used for energy
Almost all products on the market today are processed from oil in one way or another.

  2. The topic of peak oil production - the article was written in 2005 and talked about the jump in oil prices to 55 dollars per barrel. Today it is 80 dollars…
It is amazing (or maybe not so amazing) how the "rational" Western world does not invest hundreds of billions a year in alternative energies - both in development and in increasing production capacity. This is despite the fact that completely rational and selfish considerations, even without relation to environmental quality, require it.

  3. Peak oil production will come in a global economic slowdown that will intensify due to energy prices that will soar to a state of accelerated negative growth.
Which will create poverty, hunger, wars and environmental destruction and further accelerate negative growth.
Alternative energy sources will be paralyzed and will no longer be able to support the existing situation.
In short, what we see is a total crash and collapse of all existing systems, this will be a complete shock to humanity and a return of more than 200 years back due to the addition of wars, global destruction of the earth, pollution, diseases, warming of the earth, and the extinction of most of the existing species.
