Israel's national clock, located in the National Physics Laboratory on the Givat Ram campus of the Hebrew University, will move one hour forward and display the new official time of Israel. The new clock that was implemented by the "Focus Telecom" company at the National Physics Laboratory in Givat Ram, which operates within the Ministry of Meteorology, includes three time measurement systems consisting of a cesium 133 atomic clock and a GPS receiver. The National Physics Laboratory in Jerusalem, according to the law of the State of Israel from 1992, is the clock of the state.
The assimilation in the National Physics Laboratory was carried out in view of the fact that the previous clocks had worn out and had to be replaced. An atomic clock of the cesium 133 type is the basic clock that 95% of the world's national laboratories use to determine time. The atomic clocks are considered the most accurate clocks and they reach an incredible level of accuracy with a deviation of one second every 300 years, about 1,000 times more accurate than quartz clocks. The atomic clocks are based on measuring "ticks" - the rate at which electrons move around an atomic nucleus.
Dr. Nadia Goldovski, director of the time and frequency department of the National Physics Laboratory at the Ministry of the Ministry of Science and Technology, points out that the National Physics Laboratory is actually the state's clock. Israel time is determined according to the Time Law from 1992. The National Physics Laboratory determines and measures the time and frequency used for many purposes (television broadcasts, telephone calls, navigation devices, etc.). The measurement process is carried out in coordination with 42 different measurement stations around the world, with the aim of calculating world time. All the data from all the stations in the world are transmitted every half hour to the UTC organization in Paris. The global organization processes the data and synchronizes the exact time with all the stations in the world.
The CEO of Focus Telecom, Ehud Sherer, explains that in order for a phone call or photo to reach its destination, even if they come from two different ends of the world, they must be synchronized. The synchronization is carried out using atomic clocks and GPS receivers and is managed and controlled by a central computerized system, which consists of an array of GPS receivers, which receive the signals of the atomic clocks - installed in the GPS satellites orbiting the earth.

  1. When the clock synchronizes with other clocks, effective precisions of one second deviation are reached every few hundred million years
And a quantum clock with an accuracy of one second every 5 billion years has already been developed

  2. That's what I thought, this thing is just a metronome, who cares how it will be presented?
    For him, nothing has changed.

  3. Only the clock display moves forward
The device you see is not the watch but the ticker
