Space Shuttle Atlantis arrived at Launch 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Thursday at 15:09 local time. It is a trip that is about 6 kilometers long from the ferry train facility, which started at 08:19 in the morning, that is, a trip at a speed of less than 1.5 km/h.
The launch of Atlantis for mission STS-117 is the first such launch in four years. The next milestone of the mission will be a full general rehearsal for the launch and it will take place on the 21st-23rd in Favor at the Kennedy Space Center. The rehearsal will provide the team with the opportunity to participate in a number of countdown simulation activities, familiarization with the equipment as well as emergency rescue training.
