Atlantis on the launch pad

Another step towards mission STS-117 has been successfully completed. Next week there will be a general rehearsal for the launch on March 15 

 

Space shuttle Atlantis on the launch pad Space Shuttle Atlantis arrived at Launch 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Thursday at 15:09 local time. It is a trip that is about 6 kilometers long from the ferry train facility, which started at 08:19 in the morning, that is, a trip at a speed of less than 1.5 km/h.

The launch of Atlantis for mission STS-117 is the first such launch in four years. The next milestone of the mission will be a full general rehearsal for the launch and it will take place on the 21st-23rd in Favor at the Kennedy Space Center. The rehearsal will provide the team with the opportunity to participate in a number of countdown simulation activities, familiarization with the equipment as well as emergency rescue training.
