The ashes of "Scotty" from Star Trek will take off into space on April 28

In addition to him, the ashes of astronaut Gordon Cooper and about 200 other people from around the world who requested to be buried in space will be launched into space

The ashes of the actor James Doohan, who played the role of Scotty in the Star Trek series, as well as Gordon Cooper, one of the first NASA astronauts (who went into space in the Mercury program in the sixties) will be launched into space on April 28 on a private rocket from the space base Small government in New Mexico.

The six-meter-long SL-2 rocket, built by UP Aerospace for Houston-based Celestis, which organizes space burials, will also carry the ashes of another 200 people from ten different countries who paid to be buried in space. Celtis will organize a joint memorial service at the New Mexico Space History Museum in Alameda.

The Space.com website says that this is the second rocket with a deceased Efrei launched into space. The previous missile was launched on September 25, 2006, but failed to reach space and the ashes of the deceased actually dispersed in the atmosphere earlier than expected. Since then, a series of adjustments and design changes have been made in order to improve the missile, the representatives of the missile manufacturer said.
