The Communications Space Company announced yesterday (Wednesday) to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange that the Amos 3 communications satellite was delivered to the company by the Aerospace Industry at the planned point in the orbit - 4 degrees west, and began providing service to customers.

The Amos 3 satellite was launched on a Soyuz model rocket of the Russian company Land Launch, on April 28 this year. Its launch was delayed a few days beyond the planned due to a malfunction in the separation of the fuel pipes after the launch. In the end it turned out that the rocket carrying the satellite was not damaged and the launch was indeed successful.

The operation of the old satellite Amos 1, launched in 1996, will soon be stopped. Its engines will be activated and with the remaining fuel left in it, it will be raised to a higher orbit known as the "cemetery of communication satellites". This is in order to clear the crowded orbit - the geostationary orbit in the Clark belt - a strip at an altitude of 36 thousand km above the equator where the satellites circle the earth at the same speed as its self-rotation.
