The Communications Space Company announced today the arrival of the Amos-3 communications satellite produced by the Aerospace Industry at the Baikonur launch site in Kazakhstan. The satellite was flown from Germany to Kazakhstan and transported by train to the launch site.

In recent months, the Amos-3 satellite underwent a series of comprehensive tests at the facilities of the IABG company in Germany, in order to prepare it for the launch that should take place at the end of April. Among other tests, the satellite also underwent thermal tests designed to test its durability in the conditions in space. After the launch and completion of the tests in space, the satellite will be located at point W4 near the Amos-2 satellite. The Amos Amos-3 satellite will replace Amos-1 which will end its life during the year 2008.

Amos-3 is an improved version of the Amos-2 satellite, and in addition to television and radio broadcasts and data transmission services on the fixed beams to the East Coast of the USA, the Middle East and Europe, Amos-3 is able to provide services through antennas with a mobile beam to any point in the Middle East, Europe , Africa and other regions in the Americas.

The cost of building and launching the satellite amounts to approximately 170 million dollars. It was built for the Space Communications Company by a subsidiary of the Israeli Aerospace Industries, which is responsible for monitoring the satellite throughout its lifetime 24 hours a day. The launch into space of the Amos-3 communications satellite will be integrated into the 60th anniversary events for the State of Israel, and received the patronage of the country's president, Shimon Peres.
