Working at NASA is no longer a distant dream: to develop a robot that will navigate and conduct experiments in space, to be part of a team that develops sensors to monitor the health of astronauts and to understand the role of water in the history of Mars - these are just some of the research tasks that await young Israeli researchers at NASA's research and development institutions. Israeli students will now be able to join the NASA internship program offered by the Israel Space Agency at the Ministry of Science, take part in the development of products and scientific research in space, gain experience at the forefront of space research and contribute their knowledge.

According to Minister of Science and Technology Ofir Akunis: "The collaboration with NASA allows our best young researchers to be exposed to the forefront of space research, to gain experience and to contribute their knowledge to the advancement of the field." When they return, the experience they will gain at NASA will serve them in promoting research and development in the field of space in Israel."

The plan to send Israeli researchers to NASA is part of a broad agreement that NASA signed about a year ago with the Israel Space Agency at the Ministry of Science. The internship program is intended for students with a bachelor's or master's degree in the exact sciences related to space, who wish to join as visiting researchers at NASA's Ames Research Center in the USA. The internship program takes place during three semesters - summer, fall and spring - each lasting approximately 10 to 16 weeks.

Candidates selected for the program will benefit from a living stipend from the agency in the amount of up to 70,000 NIS for a full semester - fall or spring (about 16 weeks), and up to 45,000 NIS for a summer semester (about 10 weeks). Five candidates will be selected for the program in this round from among those who submit their candidacy.
