Astroscale is the company that acquired the Israeli Effective Space which became Astroscale Israel and which is engaged in the development of methods for maintaining satellites in space
Novo Okada (Nobu Okada) founder and CEO of the Astroscale satellite company, the market leader in the field of long-term sustainability in space, was awarded the title of Person of the Year in the 'small/medium space companies' category. The award, for the company's innovation and excellence, was awarded to Okada by the prestigious space industry magazine SpaceNews.
In the reasons for the win, SpaceNews noted the fact that Okada recently completed a fundraising round of 51 million dollars and that the company led by him is prepared to fly into space (which will be held on March 21) for the first commercial mission to demonstrate its capabilities in removing space debris. He is considered one of the leading voices in the field of space today and serves, among other things, as vice president of the International Astronautical Federation and co-chairman of the space field in the International Forum Council.
Astroscale is the only company in the world today that focuses exclusively on providing services in space both in low satellite orbit ("LEO") and in geosynchronous orbit ("GEO" - height 35,786 km above the Earth's equator). The company, founded in 2013, develops tiny satellite solutions that will be used for a variety of tasks in space, such as extending the life of satellites, disposing of space debris and changing the position of satellites while in orbit in space.
An economical solution - instead of launching a new satellite
Astroscale Israel (formerly Effective Space), founded by Arya Helzband, an entrepreneur, the former manager of the space plant of the Israeli Air Force and one of the pioneers of the space industry in Israel, is considered among the world's pioneers in the field of space operation services. The company has developed some of the most promising and innovative space service technologies on the market. Its Space Drone satellite program, which is currently developing into a platform for extending the life of Astroscale satellites in geosynchronous orbit, has already been widely recognized by leading satellite operators - including among potential customers as a cost-effective, innovative and service-compatible solution Satellites in space.
"The award we received is confirmation of our efforts to find solutions to preserve space for the benefit of future generations. It is a non-renewable natural resource and there is now a growing understanding that preserving the earth is not possible without preserving space through space-based technologies. We are currently working with the global industry to define business goals and establish responsible policies that will reduce the damage of space debris and preserve space for the benefit of future generations.'
