The Ministry of Water Resources works to encourage the transfer of water technologies from the Academy to Industry

Director General of the Ministry of Water Resources, CPA Gabriel Maimon: The Ministry of Water Resources sees the development and strengthening of the water sector as a strategic tool for the development of Israeli industry and exports

The Director General of the Ministry of Water Resources, CPA Gabriel Maimon, who also serves as the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the government program for the development of the water sector, recently issued a Director General directive regarding the encouragement of the transfer of knowledge and water technologies from the Academy of Industry. This action is part of the government plan for the development of the industry which is led by the Ministry of Taxation in cooperation with government ministries and other entities.

This directive of the CEO is intended to encourage the local development of innovative technologies that will form the basis of systems and solutions in the water sector, while taking advantage of the relative advantages and knowledge in industry, academia and infrastructure companies.

CPA Maimon points out that the Ministry of Taxation is helping to strengthen and expand the technological base of the industry in Israel through a variety of aid programs operated within the Office of the Chief Scientist at the Ministry.

CPA Maimon also points out that the water sector is an area that faces a return and in which a window of technological and business opportunity has opened for a limited period. The Ministry of Taxation sees the development and strengthening of this field as a strategic tool for the development of companies through the development of innovative knowledge, products and technologies that will allow penetration of international markets.

For the purpose of carrying out this directive, the Director General of the Ministry appointed a committee (called the "Katamon Committee") whose members are:

1. The chief scientist - chairman
2. Deputy Chief Scientist for Scientific Affairs - member and acting chairman
3. Magnet program manager
4. The coordinator of the water program at the Ministry of Water Resources
5. Representative of the Ministry of Finance, Hashkal Division
6. Representative of the Ministry of Finance, Budget Division
7. Water Commission representative
8. A public representative with experience, proven seniority, and at a managerial level in a knowledge-rich industry
9. A public representative with experience, proven seniority in the field of academic research.

 
 
The committee's roles and powers:
* ” to establish and publish rules and procedures for carrying out this provision.
* ” to outline the implementation policy of this provision, including setting standards and order of priorities in the use of the budget.
* ” To approve requests in full or in part, including the approval of the partners in the plan, to determine in the approval conditions for the execution and implementation of the plans.
* ” determine the conditions required in the knowledge sharing agreement between the partners and approve the agreement.
* ” To apply, by special decision, in relevant circumstances detailed in the protocol, this provision also to institutions and research institutes that are not university research institutions, and on the condition that they carry out research and development at an academic level in the field of water.
* ” To approve an extension of the implementation period approved for the program, provided that it does not exceed 30 months from the date of the original approval.
* "Discuss requests for approvals in the context of preserving knowledge and production rights in Israel - all subject to the provisions of the R&D Law.
* ” to initiate surveys and studies that may assist in the implementation of this provision.
