Using Australia's National Drug Discovery Centre, researchers from the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute have identified ingredients that can block a central protein of the coronavirus, called PLpro. This protein, which is found in all corona viruses, is essential for the virus and allows it to enter human cells, reproduce in them and paralyze their anti-viral mechanism

Everyone wants to hear about the day after the corona, and we are exposed to terrible horror stories about all the troubles that are going to befall us already in the coming year. But no one is also talking about the positive consequences that may be realized thanks to this virus.

Surprisingly, it's not the science fiction writers, nor the futurists - but science fiction writers who have many times succeeded in predicting the future: flights into space, satellites, submarines, even the credit card and the iPad. And how creepy, two Israeli writers managed to predict the corona epidemic

Did you know that our immune system consists of two subsystems? One is born, and the other is acquired during our lives. Both together fight invaders (bacteria, viruses, etc.) as much as they can. So why do we need vaccines? Because even these two are not always enough to fight all the troubles

Against the background of the attempts to find a vaccine against the new corona virus, data science and public health researchers reveal in a new study how the world of science too quickly abandons the occupation of previous epidemics and because of this, gaps in preparedness for the next outbreaks are created.

The researchers actually suggest increasing the power of the innate immune system - the first line in the fight against the virus, before the acquired immune system (specific to a particular pathogen) comes into action.
