Humans tend to make friends with those who have a similar body odor to their own

This is according to a new study by Weizmann Institute scientists. Moreover, the scientists were able to predict in the study what the degree of connection between complete strangers would be just on the basis of their smell as picked up by an "electronic nose"

The experimental facility, with which the researchers measured the neural activity occurring in the olfactory receptors located on the olfactory membrane in the nasal cavity. An electrode is inserted into the subject's left nostril (held in place by a support rod mounted on the nose), as well as a tube, through which the odorants are injected. The device also includes control electrodes (installed on the bridge of the nose and the earlobe).
