This is the first image of Sagittarius A* the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. This is the first direct visual evidence of the presence of this black hole. Until now, it has been recognized for its influence on the stars close to it. The black hole was imaged using the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), an array that joined together eight existing radio observatories around Earth to create one virtual "Earth-sized" telescope.
