The Naam project (outstanding Arab youth) in collaboration with the "Yadidi Atidim" association, opened last week at the Technion. 55 Arab male and female students, residents of the north, were accepted to the Technion preparatory school, after passing the entrance exams. The industrialist Eitan Wertheimer helps these outstanding young people realize the potential inherent in them and in his vision he sees them as a future generation that will march the Israeli economy forward.
At the opening ceremony of the project, Marom Harpaz, CEO of the Yididi Atidim association, said that Eitan Wertheimer, who heads the association, sees in his vision Arab young women and men studying at the Technion and joining the fabric of activity and society in Israel. "I would be happy to help people from sectors that have not yet come to the Technion to study, acquire knowledge and a profession and earn a decent living," said Eitan Wertheimer at the ceremony, which was attended by the students, their families and dozens of school principals from Haifa and the Arab villages in the north. "We all need to succeed in life, generate twice as much income per capita, so that more people will benefit and more people will be well. We must export unemployment and import success. I dream of meeting Bill Gates in the future in one of the Arab villages in the Galilee."
Brigadier General (res.) Avner Barzani, member of the board of directors of Atidim, creator and founder of the project, told the students that they were chosen from among hundreds of candidates. "We have high hopes for you, because you are the first, the pioneers", he emphasized.
Professor Shimon Gapstein, Head of the Center for Pre-Academic Education at the Technion, assured the 27 young women and 28 young men: "All of us at the Technion are mobilizing to help you realize your success."
Dr. Hani Karidin, the director of the high school in Tamara, said that he was surprised when he received during the last war the application of Shirley Yogev, the coordinator of the Naam project. "I didn't know my soul from joy", he added excitedly. "The blessed 'Atidim' project will create in the Arab villages in the north a talented generation that will integrate and contribute its part to the advancement of Israeli society in general, and to narrowing the gaps in it in particular. The Technion saw fit to adopt this project, and proved that it is also a humane and humane institution that takes care to integrate students from a relatively low socio-economic background, but by no means lacking in ability."
Rana Zahran, a student at Shihbin, said on behalf of the students that the "Na'am" project provides a unique opportunity for the young people of the Arab sector as well. "This is a positive step to reduce the gap between Arabs and Jews in Israel," she added. "Fortunately, there are people who think how to unite us instead of how to separate us. If we all work together, we will reach heights we never knew existed."

  1. I think that some of the commenters here should be denied access to academic institutions until they show love for people wherever they are. Knowledge is power and the one who understands will understand :-).

  2. The first two commenters simply do not deserve to even respond to their words. I expect precisely from a people who have experienced anti-Semitism and felt the evil that blows from racism to try and grow on other values that are built on equality between people regardless of their language or affiliation and there is no doubt that there is enough potential and talent in the Arab sector to reach the top
I am actually convinced that this is a great way to bridge the gaps that exist between the two sectors and try to strengthen despite everything the ties between the two sectors. It is important for me to emphasize that you will not understand that what I am saying stems from weakness, but that I am simply a polite person who grew up with different values than those of the first two commenters
    Sincerely: Owad Ghassan

  3. This strengthens the relationship between the Jews and the Arabs. I think this is the best way for peace!

  4. Why go into questions at all.. Let time do its thing
For me, as an Arab, the most important thing is to be a successful and efficient person in the Land of Israel
Therefore, in my opinion, this project applies to the Arabs their desire to work in a respectable and efficient manner in both the Arab and Jewish sectors and without any admiration for the Jews. vice versa!

  6. Well done, this is the first time I feel that something from the Jewish sector cares about the Arab youth in Israel.
Eitan is doing what all the governments in Israel failed to do in this matter or what they did not want to do more precisely.
This field is hi-tech and advanced technology studies is what is missing in our sector in order to succeed in the age of globalization. Thank you to our neighbor Eitan in my name and in the name of most of the residents of Deir al-Assad.

  7. Does this project also include Druze youth. If so, please write down the address I need to contact

  8. Why even include this program in futures which is an amazing program for military veterans or for military reserve. What the hell does the Arabs have to do with the future?

  9. Of course the reaction of the first two commenters shows racism, and it is people like these who cause conflicts between Arabs and Jews in the country, I think that every human being has the right to learn and progress regardless of their affiliation. And the progress of the Arabs in the country also causes the progress of the country and its development, I believe that the Arabs are not incompetent and they can prove it in all fields.

  10. I don't agree with the two previous commenters who don't want to sound racist but that's exactly what they sound like. I am happy about this blessed project of Ethan Wertheimer and others. I know that by now there are probably many on the Arab and Jewish side who will try to torpedo this project, but just as in football we would not think of preventing an outstanding Arab player from playing in the national team, so we must not prevent the best Arab students from joining the best academy. Just a few days ago I read about an Arab researcher at the Technion who won a grant from Europe for the research he was conducting. Such activity by outstanding Arabs will show us and the whole world that boycotts like the British boycott of the Israeli academy stem only from anti-Semitism and jealousy.

  11. I don't want to sound racist but what is written here certainly scares me, by the way I was about to write the comment even before I saw the commenter before me. My opinion is that as long as Israeli Arabs do not show full loyalty (and I emphasize full!!) to the State of Israel (and see their disloyalty clearly in their riots such as the October riots, in the displays of hatred, in the wild incitement, in supporting and cooperating with the Palestinians, including helping to prepare terrorist attacks, in the statements of their leaders in the Knesset and more) allowing them access to a high-level education in this situation is dangerous and wrong, first of all I'm not sure that they even deserve it in light of their behavior (not all of them are right, but a very significant percentage of this population) secondly, I wouldn't be surprised if it comes Today they will use this knowledge against us, I am very opposed to the entire move described in the article and I hope it does not come to fruition, before they behave as loyal citizens should behave and only after they ask for full rights. Many Jews live in the USA, France, Britain and many other countries (including Arab countries) and many times in bad conditions, I have never seen them protest against the country they live in. I wonder why the Arabs here allow themselves to do this.
